107.77 The Mix FM

Overview

107.77 The Mix FM is Saints Row 2's 80s classic-hits station. The format focuses tightly on the 1981 to 1986 window, with a curated lineup of new wave, synth-pop, pop rock and a couple of hard rock crossover hits. There are in-world advertisements for the station throughout Stilwater and you can put The Mix's logo onto clothing.

DJ Darius Masters

Darius Masters hosts the station. The persona is a polished classic-hits DJ with an obvious soft spot for the Final Countdown era, which he describes on air as "the greatest song ever". His station IDs are upbeat and on-genre:

> "All the great hits of the 80s without the legwarmers! Only on 107.77, > The Mix!"

> "You're listening to Darius Masters on The Mix, and here's another 80s > classic!"

He takes phone-ins from major characters too: Shaundi sings The Final Countdown into the phone, Jessica calls in for Sister Christian, and Dane Vogel rings up to ask Darius to play Everybody Wants to Rule the World as "my theme song". After Vogel's death, Darius sometimes plays the song again as an Ultor tribute, before remembering he's not supposed to.

There are 11 licensed songs in the bank, all from 1981-1986. Highlights include Tears for Fears, A-ha's Take on Me, Europe's The Final Countdown, Duran Duran's The Reflex, Loverboy's Working for the Weekend and Hall & Oates's Out of Touch.

Trivia

The audio bank also contains an unused intro for The Safety Dance by Men Without Hats. The intro is voiced and intact in the game files, but the song itself was never licensed for Saints Row 2 and never plays. The track was finally added in Saints Row IV.
