89.0 Generation X
Indie and alternative station hosted by Tatiana. Leans dance-rock and indietronica.
Overview
89.0 Generation X returns in Saints Row: The Third with an indie-leaning playlist that swaps the SR2 emo and pop punk lineup for blog-era indie rock, dance-punk and indietronica. Tatiana hosts.
DJ Tatiana
Tatiana plays a stereotypical Brooklyn-hipster character on air. Her segments lean on the bit hard, with running references to typewriters, vintage bicycles, locally brewed beer and life in Brooklyn. After playing Dragonette's Stupid Grin she likens the title to the look people get on their faces when they listen to pop music. She is consistent, if one-note.
The shift from Veteran Child and Ultor to Tatiana is the biggest tonal change between the two games' versions of Generation X. SR2's incarnation was openly hostile to its callers; SR3's is gently condescending instead.
Locations
The station plays inside Shaundi's Loft as the default ambient music. It is also the default radio for several Decker vehicles and is one of the more common spawn-station options in the player's car after the Three Way mission.
Tracklist
There are 18 licensed songs on the SR3 version of GenX. Highlights include The Black Keys' Next Girl, Sleigh Bells' Riot Rhythm and Miike Snow's Animal. The Dø, Sleigh Bells, Miike Snow and Delphic represent the indietronica lean of the format particularly well.
Audio quality
Source quality is the same as the rest of the SR3 stations: 44100 Hz stereo Vorbis, extracted from the radio_genx_media.bnk_pc Wwise bank.
