95.4 KRhyme FM
Hip hop station returning from Saints Row 2 with a fresh late-2000s and early-2010s playlist.
Overview
95.4 KRhyme FM is the hip hop station in Saints Row: The Third, returning from Saints Row 2 with a new playlist built around late-2000s and early-2010s releases. DJ Mister Magic returns as host. Where the SR2 lineup leaned on a mid-2000s commercial sweep with a few catalogue cuts, the SR3 version drops most of those for a tighter focus on the Tyler the Creator and My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy era.
Playlist structure
KRhyme uses Volition's standard SR3 station layout: a 10-slot rotation pattern of songs, sweepers and commercial breaks, with each song slot rolling for a 40 percent chance of a DJ intro and a 40 percent chance of a DJ outro. Intros and outros are tied to specific songs in the data files, so picking a song determines which talk-over candidates can play over it.
There are 20 licensed songs in the bank. Standout cuts include Kanye West's Power, Tyler, the Creator's Yonkers and Mos Def's Quiet Dog.
Audio quality
Saints Row: The Third's audio runs through Wwise rather than XACT, and the radio audio is shipped at 44100 Hz stereo Vorbis. That is a substantial step up from the Saints Row 2 source quality, with no ADPCM artefacts and full stereo separation on the music tracks.
